useful Information for pet owners
The psychological well-being of our patients is as important as the medical care that they receive when they are with us and we are fortunate that our Hospital is situated on a large property with a beautiful garden where our patients can be taken out for a walk, or if unable, carried outside to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air.
You can be rest assured that your pet will receive as much love and attention as they would at home.

Fear Free
Veterinary Practice
The goal of a Fear Free Veterinary Surgery is to ensure emotional well being, psychological enrichment, and the reduction of fear, anxiety, and stress in pets that visit them.
We, at St Helier, believe a pet’s emotional well being is as important as their physical well being and the two should go hand in hand.
Fear Free does not mean that your pet may never experience anything uncomfortable whilst visiting us but it does mean that our team is committed to do everything possible to create a peaceful and enjoyable visit to the vet for your pet.

Visiting Hours &
24 Hour Nursing Care
Ward rounds take place between 8am to 10am and 4pm to 6pm. We would prefer if owners avoid visiting their pets during these busy periods of the day. This is so that we can get your pet ready to see you and have staff available to assist you.
St Helier Veterinary hospital provides after hours care for all of our in-patients. We have veterinary assistants who live on site and provide care from 7am until 10pm. However, if a patient requires more intensive care or nursing we will often refer these patients to a local 24 hour Critical Care Veterinary hospital.
Please be advised that the cost of the ambulance transport to and from these facilities and the costs of the out of hours care is charged directly to the owner and not added to your St Helier Account.

House Calls &
Patient Transport
Our General Practice vet is available to make house calls when you are unable to bring your pet into the Hospital.
These appointments are booked around our consultation and theatre schedules at the discretion of the vet on duty. Home visits incurs a 'House Call' fee as well as a Mileage fee.
We regret that we are unable to provide this service outside of our normal working hours or on weekends.

Repeat Prescriptions
In the event that you pet has been placed on chronic medication it is possible to arrange a repeat prescription without a consultation.
Guidelines for you to be aware of:

-
You must be an existing client and your pet must have been diagnosed or treated for their condition by one of our Veterinarians;

-
Your pet must have been seen by one of our Veterinarians in the last 6 months. This is to ensure that the medication is still necessary and that your pet hasn’t developed any additional conditions that would preclude them from receiving the medication in question.

-
Please understand that our Receptionists are not at liberty to dispense repeat prescriptions without the assistance of one of our Veterinarians. For this reason we suggest that you request the prescription telephonically before you come in to collect it.

Please be careful when searching for information on-line, reliable information will often come from sites that are
